Moving from Discussion to Real Action: ZEvRA Newsletter #3

“Recycling and circularity have become common buzzwords… It is therefore time to move from discussion to real action.” — Daniel Nebel, Project Coordinator, Fraunhofer IWU.

The latest edition of the ZEvRA newsletter is now live, marking a significant milestone in the transition toward circular automotive manufacturing.

While circularity is often discussed in abstract terms, ZEvRA is validating its industrial viability. This issue features one of our advancements in recycled aluminium alloys from the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Met@UniBO – Laboratorio di Metallurgia UniBO demonstrating how we can successfully replace virgin materials in high-stress structural components while maintaining peak safety and performance.

Also inside this issue:

  • Industrial Validation: Achieving up to a 95% reduction in CO₂ emissions through secondary material sourcing.
  • Digital Twins: Using predictive modelling to bridge the gap between post-consumer scrap and consistent industrial quality.
  • From Lab to Line: Successful series-production casting of structural engine mounts at Endurance Technologies Ltd..
  • Circular mobility is moving beyond the conceptual stage; it is becoming a practical industrial reality driven by collaborative engineering and innovation from within the ZEvRA project.
