We are pleased to announce the launch of the European ZEvRA project, which began on 1 January 2024!
The European Commission’s stated goal is to achieve zero CO2 emissions by 2035, particularly in the electric vehicle value chain. Consequently, the Horizon Europe ZEvRA research project (28 partners from 13 countries, running from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2026, €11.4 million in funding, G.A. No. 101138034) aims to improve the circularity of light electric vehicles throughout their value chain, from material sourcing and manufacturing to end-of-life processes. Polymeris is one of the 28 partners in the consortium.
ZEvRA will enable collaboration between five major equipment manufacturers, supported by leading European universities and key players across the value chain (including three members of the 2ZERO partnership), and will demonstrate a harmonised circularity methodology enabling interchangeability and reproducibility across Europe. The methodology and manufacturing technologies will be supported by digital tools and validated on a complete circular car, integrating eight prototype components covering 84% of the total automotive material mix. ZEvRA’s innovations aim to improve zero-emission approaches in the life cycle and value chain of at least 59% of European vehicles by 2035.
The project kick-off meeting took place at Fraunhofer IWU in Chemnitz, Germany, from 23 to 25 January 2024. Around 75 participants engaged in intensive discussions with each other and with the European Commission’s project manager.
