The ZEvRA exploitation task is progressing strongly toward the 100% circular car concept. Our innovation pipeline has matured from an initial 15 results to over 35 cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
Under the strategic exploitation leadership of Bax Innovation, and in collaboration with the whole consortium, we have identified 5 Prioritised Key Exploitable Results (KERs). These innovations are engineered to transform the automotive value chain by eliminating waste and drastically reducing environmental impact.
The ZEVRA Innovation Leaders:
- 100% Recycled Wrought Aluminium for extruded profiles — Led by RAFFMETAL S.P.A.
- Recycled Plastics (up to 70% PCR) for interior parts — Led by Farplas
- Traceability of Vehicle Components and Materials via a Digital Product Passport (DPP) — Led by Dipartimento di Meccanica – Politecnico di Milano
- AI Head Impact Criterion Tool for steel repurposing — Led by EDAG Group
- Thermoplastic Composite Semi-Products (made of recycled PCR PET, glass fabrics made of mass balanced recycled glass fibres and/or glass mats made of recycled glass fibres for a total recycled recycled content up to 99%) — Led by Compositec
Projected Impact by 2035 ZEVRA’s mission is to provide scalable, industrial solutions. The integration of these KERs is projected to deliver:
- 30% CO2 reduction per vehicle (saving 8.7M tons of CO2 overall!)
- At least 1,680 kg of virgin material saved per vehicle
- 99% acceleration in the time needed to design and repurpose materials for new circular car models.
The photos show the the ZEvRA consortium at a dedicated KER prioritisation workshop in July 2025. Which of these five industrial solutions do you see as the most critical for the next generation of EVs?
